Chemeheuvi Native American basket makers traditionally resided in the Mojave Desert in California and Arizona. Chemeheuvi Idian basket weavers created ollas, trays and bowls from coiled willow and martynia (Devil's Claw) on a three rod foundation. Mary Lou Brown was a highly regarded and skilled Chemehuevi Native American Basket Weaver.
